General Info

All bags, rucksacks, umbrellas,  and any kind of luggage or object that can be of obstruction in the Museum must  be left in the lockers before the beginning of the visit.

Within the whole monumental complex (i.e.: Cathedral, Cloister, Museum and Theodolinda’s chapel and Iron Crown) taking pictures and filming (with any mean), smoking (including electronic-cigarettes) touching the work of arts displayed, introducing food or drinks is strictly forbidden. We also recommend a behaviour suitable and respectful of the Cathedral as a holy place.

The access to the Chapel of Theodolinda and to the Iron Crown is organized and programmed  not only for groups, but for single visitors too and it is allowed only with guided tours. Therefore booking is always compulsory.

The visits to the Cathedral, to the Chapel of Theodolinda and to the Iron Crown are suspended during religious services.

For groups of at least 15 visitors (maximum 25) the access (full or partial) must be booked in advance. Free entrance for the tourist guide accompanying the group.

It’s very important to arrive at the ticket office 15 minutes before the beginning of the visit, to have enough time for the ticketing operations and to meet with the tourist guide (when provided by the Museum) in order to avoid delays and consequent changes of programme. Eccessive delay may cause the impossibility to access.

The group leader
While booking the visit of your group, we warmly suggest to give us all contacts and adresses of the tour leader so that the Museum will be able to promptly let you know in case any change of programme is needed. At the same time the tour leader must inform the booking office of all changes in the visit programme  as well as of possible delays the day of the visit.

Guided Tours

Guided tours to the Chapel of Theodolinda and the Iron Crown are always included in the admission fee. (see all tickets here).

Our booking office can organize guided tours to the Cathedral and the Museum with patented tour guides for tourist groups, small groups or single visitors. For this service booking is compulsory. The tourist guide must be paid cash directly the day of the visit and she/he will provide a receipt for the payment.

Access for the disabled

The monumental complex is partially accessible to people with disabilities. To organize your visit at best, please contact our booking office to get all the information about our facilities (also in case of single visitors or small groups).
